It is our intention to promote good health and hygiene for all the children and staff in our Nursery.
If your child suffers from any kind of medical condition i.e. asthma you must record this on the admission form so as all staff are aware of any problems that may arise from this condition. Inhalers must be provided that can be kept in the child’s file.
Children and staff will be monitored for signs and symptoms of communicable diseases such as chicken pox, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, head lice, hepatitis, measles, mumps, meningitis, rubella, vomiting and fevers of 38°C or more.
Any child or staff member suffering from any of the above communicable diseases should let the nursery know and should remain away from the nursery until they are well again.
In the interest of all attending the nursery, we must ask that any child/staff member displaying signs of Gastro-enteritis, stay away from the facility for a minimum of 48 hours after the last sickness/diarrhoea, or until the signs have passed if longer. In these circumstances we will waive the fees due for children having had gastro-enteritis with a supporting hospital/doctors note.
Any child taking anti-biotics needs to stay away from nursery for the first 48 hours of the course of medication.
It will be in the interest of all parties to ensure your child is sufficiently healthy to return to nursery care, and staff must be convinced of this prior to re-admission.
In the case of an emergency, being a serious accident or sudden illness, where the parent/guardian cannot be contacted, the senior member of staff will assume charge and if necessary instigate a hospital visit.
If your child is on any form of medication that needs to be administered while attending nursery, you will be asked to fill in and sign a medication sheet, which will then be kept in your child’s file.
Please clearly label all medication and supply a spoon/syringe to administer it with. All medication must be brought to nursery in its original packaging – we will only administer medicine that is labelled and in its original packaging.
If your child has been on any medication at home please let the nursery staff know so as they can monitor your child’s progress throughout the day.
